5 Simple Steps for a Better Day

Happiness-Habits-Improvement

We all have times we would like to turn up the happiness in our days. Here are five ways to do just that.

Set Your Focus and Reward Yourself
It may not seem like much, but setting a plan for one or two things that you want to accomplish today can really get your mind going. If you typically go about your day just coasting, try this. See what value a little purpose has.

If you are already a goal setter or you simply are trying it, make sure to reward yourself for your accomplishments. A small treat, a quick walk, or a few minutes to have a few laughs with coworkers can make those accomplishments really stand out.

Be Thankful
Before you do anything else, think about five things for which you are thankful. It’s a simple exercise. Simply appreciate what you have. It’s amazing how much acknowledging a little value in our current situation can help us see how great our day already is.

Show Appreciation
In the next five minutes, call, text, or lean over to the person at the desk next to you and tell someone important to you something you appreciate about them. Maybe even do something a little extra to show them. If you really want to improve your relationships, try doing this at least once daily.

Be Bob Rossian
If you’re familiar with Bob Ross, you know he was a painter who people loved to watch paint. He had so much positive energy and found ways to paint “happy trees” in his paintings.

Your day is filled with opportunities to get up walk around and paint happy breaks into your day. Find times you can just take quick little breaks to get away from everything demanding your attention and clear your mind.

Smile
Finally, smile. Find ways to enjoy the day. Do little things that make you laugh. Find ways to entertain your coworkers, family, or friends with simple little jokes, stories, or affirmations.

Try these today. I hope you do to see how a few things can make a huge impact in your day.
