A Sparkling New Year

sparkling new year

You have a sparkling new year right in front of you. What are you going to do with it?

That One Christmas Toy

Remember getting up on Christmas Day and opening that one special toy? Whatever the toy may have been, remember that feeling as you tore off the wrapping paper and discovered this brand new trinket with all kinds of possibilities?

I remember one year getting a remote control hot rod. It was amazing. I opened the box and pulled out this shiny new car. It was perfect. I raced that thing up and down the hallway until the carpet wore out. And then we had Christmas lunch.

Seriously, though, the car was a blast. I loved playing with it. All day and for the rest of the week I had a lot of fun. I played with that thing as long as the batteries would last.

After a few months, the car wasn’t so shiny any more. It had a few nicks and scratches. The antenna bent and the stickers started to peel. Nothing changed with the performance of the car, but it was no longer shiny and new, and that made it a lot less interesting.

Other Kids’ Toys

At the same time I had friends who had toys that were as old as my car and yet they looked nearly brand new. It was as if they received dozens of copies of the toy and opened a new one each month.

When I saw their toys, they were just as inviting as the my car was on Christmas Day. They had shiny toys with all the promise of new toys, yet they did it without being new.

A Sparkling New Year

We tend to group things together in our mind. It helps us keep track of things and make sense of things. We look at what happened in a particular year and we evaluate the year based on some of the events. Sometimes it’s accurate, and sometimes it’s not. We might have a wonderful year with one huge bombshell and the entire year is ruined.

But guess what? You have a sparkling new year in front of you. This year is yours to make of it what you want. You have the opportunity to keep it shiny and headed in the right direction. You don’t have to do anything fancy. You simply have to focus on making the most of it and believing the most of it.

If you want to make the most of this sparkling new year and keep it that way, follow three simple steps to a better life outlined in this post. They are easy to follow and can make a world of difference.

It’s a sparkling new year! Make the most of it.
