Be the Light

When things seem dark, that’s the perfect time to be the light for other people.

A Dark Desert Highway

Life can be fun, exciting, and full of life. Other times it can be dark and gloomy and hard to see. If you’ve ever experienced one of those dark times you know how challenging, frightening, and lonely it seems.

It’s difficult to know how to help someone who’s dealing with dark times. We want to fix the situation for them, but that’s not really what they need. They need something else entirely.

In a study done more than half a century ago, a researcher discovered that one of the most important things a young monkey can have in life is not freedom from pain, but comfort when pain is present.

That’s true for people. We are resilient. We can face major challenges. At the same time, we often need encouragement and support to do it.

In short, when it’s dark, we need light. We need someone to provide some light in the darkness. And since we all need that, then that means we also need to be the light for others.

Be The Light

We often struggle to make our way, stumbling about as if blinded from something we can’t see. We hope for someone to illuminate the path in front of us, and we are often left disappointed. It sucks when we try our best and our best doesn’t seem to make a difference.

Since we know what that’s like when we need the light but are left in the dark, that’s all the more reason we should be the light for others.

There is always light. If only we’re brave enough to see it. If only we’re brave enough to be it. – Amanda Gorman.

We need to make the world better, and anytime is a great time to be better. Make the world a brighter place. Make your actions count, and be the light you want to see in the world.
