We all want to make big changes in our lives. We want to learn a new language or how to play an instrument. We want to build up a social media presence or just become better at persuading others to do things that matter.

Whatever it may be, there are all kinds of things we want to do that take a lot of effort and a lot of change. It often seems like an insurmountable obstacle, which can zap our motivation and make things harder to do. 

That’s why you need to do this one thing for big changes. It’s the one thing that will make the difference and help you make the change you want to make.

The One Thing You Need to Do

Like the story of the Tortoise and the Hare, it wasn’t the big sweeping action that won the race. After all, both contestants had the same distance to go. One tried to make it by going really fast, but didn’t stick with it. That’s often what happens to all of us.

Instead do this one thing for big changes: make gradual changes over time. Find the task that you can do consistently day after day without fail. Just like with Couch to 5k, you do a small amount of exercise each week consistently, gradually increasing it, until eventually you are running a 5k.

You have to do less to do more. You have to make changes in bite sized chunks.

Stay consistent and grow over time. You will be thrilled with the progress you make and the person you become.
