Finding Happiness

finding happiness

Life is full of ups and downs, but finding happiness in the midst of it all can make the challenges that much more worthwhile.

Here are three simple steps to finding happiness in your day.

Life Goes On

Life can be challenging. There are things that we wrestle with, things that take us by surprise. There are unexpected heartaches and weeks full of days that seem like nothing but paying the piper while our soul dreams of flying free.

Finding happiness is not always easy. Between just existing and moving forward there has to be more.

Lost in the Everyday

If you find yourself lost in the everyday, wondering if happiness will ever find you, you’re not alone. According to a happiness poll conducted annually, at most 35% of Americans have said they’re happy.

There are a lot of factors at play that can affect our happiness including distraction and a lack of control, but finding happiness is still possible amidst all the things that try to eat away at our peace of mind.

There are three simple things we can do to improve our day.

Finding Happiness

If you want to find happiness, follow these three simple steps:

  • Look for it: Have you ever noticed that you can pass the same cars a million times, but once you are in the market for a particular type of car, you see that type of car all over the place? Try it. Look for blue Toyotas. You will notice them a lot more when you actively look for them. It’s the same for happiness: look for the bright spots in your day.
  • Create it: If you can’t find happiness, then make it. Add rewards to your day to look forward to. Talk to friends that make you feel better about your life. Put pictures up at work that make you feel happy. Create your own smiles.
  • Give It: Sometimes the best way to be happy is to give happiness to others. Making someone’s day often makes our own.

Sometimes it’s challenging to see the bright moments in our day. If we look for them, create them, and give them away, we will find them a lot more frequently and make our days that much better.
