Hope when Progress Is Slow

Are your dreams still not materializing? Is your healthy eating plan not yet seeing results? Are your plans taking longer than you hoped?

I have great news!

Tortoise – Because It’s on Land
We’ve all heard the story of the Tortoise and the Hare. Except for Bob. Come on, Bob!

In the story, the faster hare loses a race to a tortoise because the hare was distracted while the tortoise consistently headed toward the goal.

Oh… I forgot: **Spoilers**.

Sorry Bob.

We like to think that if we look at the things that need to be done, jump in, work hard, and do it all, it will happen instantly.

It rarely does. Most things take time, and sometimes the process sucks.

But the good news is that slow and steady does win the race. According to Life Hacker, Seinfeld became the comedy powerhouse he is today because he kept writing. Every. Single. Day. Edison famously said “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” When coming up with a usable light bulb. James Dyson is said to have gone through over 5,000 prototypes before inventing the famous Dyson vacuum.

But all of them took a chance, pressed forward, and made huge changes in the world.

You’re Doing It
So if you are moving forward, you are on the right track! If you have taken the steps necessary to make changes in your life, you’re doing it! If you are working toward a better you, you are making that happen.

We often see our progress day to day and forget our progress over weeks and months. Success takes time, and even just taking the step to change is a step forward.

So if it doesn’t seem like you’re making progress, just keep moving forward. Don’t look at yesterday. Don’t look at tomorrow. Simply look at today and all that today can hold. Focus on success. Focus on now. Focus on possibility.

It may take time, but consistency pays off.
