As we’re all stuck inside trying to find ways to stay sane and make the most of our time indoors, we’re also wondering how we can be a part of the solution. Here’s some ideas on how to help while social distancing.

Stuck Inside

It’s tough being stuck inside or at least social distancing. Not only is it difficult to find something fun to do after the second week, it becomes a challenge to be productive.

Luckily, I’ve shared a ton of ideas on what to do when you’re stuck inside whether it’s just you, your family, or your roommates. I’ve also added some activities for adults and things to help motivate kids to get things done. I hope you find them all inspirational and helpful.

At the same time, you’re probably wondering how to help while social distancing. After all, we may be stuck inside, but there are still people that need help.

Here are a few ways to help.

How to Help while Social Distancing

First of all, try Volunteer Match. Not only are they a great resource for finding ways your skills can be used to help others, they also have a search feature that looks specifically for virtual opportunities and a specific section for helping during COVID-19.

Secondly, check with your local food pantry. Many not only provide food, but they deliver to those in need. You can often help with stocking the shelves when food is brought to the pantry, packing boxes for those in need, and delivering food to various locations.

Another great way to help is to donate to people in desperate need. We are seeing an unprecedented spike in unemployment and people are trying to figure out how they will pay their bills. GiveDirectly is helping to give cash to the people who need it most. Sometimes giving money is the best way to help.

Additional Ways to Give

To that end, support local businesses if you can. Get carryout and delivery. Be sure to tip generously! People are struggling now so if you have extra give extra, even 50 to 100% of an order. It may seem extreme, but people are dealing with extreme situations.

Two more options are The National Coalition for the Homeless to help house and feed those without a home and World Kitchen always stepping up to feed those without a meal in disaster stricken areas or those simply who need a meal.

There are lots of ways to help while social distancing. Find out how you can make a difference. And if you want more ideas, there are more great ideas in this article. Take some time to find a way to be a blessing in someone’s life today.
