Let Your Intelligence Have Some Fun

Work, work, work. That seems to be what we do all the time. In fact, we often feel if we aren’t doing something productive, we aren’t worthwhile. Maybe there’s more to life than just working. Today is a great day to let your intelligence have some fun.

Your Worth

Depending on where you live, work can be a very demanding thing. Some people have to work two or more jobs to make the household run smoothly. This need to provide can often be interwoven with our feeling of self worth.

We often feel that if we aren’t doing something productive, we’re slacking. Sadly, it can be worse than that. We feel if we aren’t busy, we aren’t worthwhile.

The truth is far from that. Your worth is immeasurable. Although what you produce can have an impact on your life and the lives of others, it doesn’t affect your worth.

You are valuable as a person. It’s not about what you can do but simply the fact that you are. Once you get beyond the feeling of doing something to feel valuable, you can start to get to a better place. Why? Because sometimes you can get more done by not getting anything done.

It’s time to let your intelligence have some fun.

The Value of Creativity

One of the biggest problems with tying our value to what we produce is that it denies a truth: imagination is one of the most vital pieces to being productive.

First of all, we are much more than what we produce. We have more value than what others can extract from us.

Beyond that, however, is the fact that imagination is quite often “non-productive”. It’s a new focus. It’s something that often requires us to be still and inactive. It almost mocks the concept of productivity. If you want your life to be better (and anytime is a great time to be better), add some imagination.

George Scialabba once said something that many wrongly attribute to Albert Einstein. His words were simple: perhaps imagination is only intelligence having fun.

Let Your Intelligence Have Some Fun

It’s time to take a break from being “productive” and focus on being creative. It’s time to stop being bored and start being excited. Now is an opportunity to take the status quo and make it something you look forward to.

Make your actions count, and let your intelligence have some fun. It may make you more productive. It will definitely make your life more entertaining.
