Life Is Fun; Live it That Way

Life Is Fun; Live it That Way

life is fun; live it that way

The demands on our time can often overwhelm us, but remember: life is fun; live it that way.

Here’s how to remind ourselves that and make that change.

Idyllic Youth

When we were young, fun was the name of the game. If it wasn’t fun, why did we care?

We had dreams. We knew what we wanted to be when we grew up and it was fantastic. Whether it was an astronaut, a fireman, or a superhero we were excited about the possibilities for one reason: because it would be fun. Back then, if we had a motto it would be that life is fun; live it that way.

When we decided what we were going to do for the day, it was always determined by what would be the most fun. It ruled our decisions.

Then we grew up.

Life’s Demands

Life became different the more we grew. At first we loved fun, but we had to make money. Then we had to make more money to pay for more things.

Over time we became better at doing what we needed to do, but lost sight of what life has to offer. Over time our choices became less about fun, and more about what we could do to make money to fit in the little pockets of fun that we’d store up over the weekend.

Instead of thinking “life is fun; live it that way”, we began to think “the weekends are fun. Maybe. If we’re not working. When’s retirement again?” Unfortunately, we thought that’s what growing up meant.

But maybe life’s not like that.

Life Is Amazing

People have paid lots of money to experience a virtual fantasy world. Places like World of WarCraft, Second Life, and The Sims let people visit made up worlds where they can act as if they live in a different world with different rules. But the world we live in has so much to offer – things we often forget.

We have sunshine. We have butterflies. We have this crazy place where you can buy coffee for four bucks pretty much anywhere in the world. We have jokes that make us belly laugh and skies so blue it feels like you can swim in them.

The world is full of wonderful things and amazing possibilities. Did you know the billionaire who created Virgin and the one who co-created Apple were dropouts? Did you know the one from Apple and the billionaire who created Amazon both were given up by their fathers? Talk about a cinderella story… but it’s real! This is real life! You don’t need a fairy tale to see how amazing life is – it is already amazing.

Life Is Fun

Every day life has something amazing to offer. You can find jokes at the touch of a button. You can see gorgeous art with the swipe of a finger. You can watch moving videos of heartfelt emotion with a tap.

You can call up a friend and laugh about what happened today. In many jobs you can take your computer and go to a coffee shop and work for the day. You can decorate your desk however makes you feel most excited and happy.

We live in a world of infinite possibilities. Even when things seem limited, there are ways to shake it up and make it unbounded.

Life in the real world is fantastic. It’s amazing. There are adventures and excitement ready for us when we just look for them, but we have to take action to make it happen.

We have amazing potential to live a wonderful life. We need to focus on how to make that happen. After all, life is fun; live it that way.
